The Savannah General Pulaski Committee, an affiliate of the American Council for Polish Culture will be hosting a Commemorative Memorial Birthday Ceremony honoring the 270th anniversary of General Casimir Pulaski's birth (born March 6, 1745).
The Commemoration will be held Saturday March 7, 2015 in Savannah at Monterey Square (corner of Bull and West Taylor Streets). This is the site of General Pulaski's burial and monument erected in his name acknowledging the great contribution and ultimate sacrifice he made for this country. The ceremony is free and open to the public. It will be held between 11-11:30 a.m.
Following the ceremony, we would like to invite everyone to join us at the Plantation Club at The Landings on beautiful Skidaway Island for a hot luncheon buffet which will be held from noon to 4 p.m. The cost for the buffet is $30.00 per person and a cash bar will be available. Please RSVP for luncheon by January 31, 2015.
For our guests coming from out of town, we invite you to enjoy the Southern hospitality of Savannah. Savannah's historic district portrays the beauty of the South. In early March, the average daily high is 70 degrees. There are exceptional restaurants, museums, carriage rides, riverboat cruises and cultural activities to enjoy. Fort Pulaski (a Historical National Park), and the beautiful beaches of Tybee Island are only about 30 minutes away. The Savannah/Hilton Head airport provides convenient and easy access to our city.
For golf enthusiasts, on Sunday March 8, we have arranged an opportunity for you to golf at a premier course on Skidaway Island for $60 per person, cart included. Visit www.thelandings.com for more information about The Landings courses. Alternatively, should you wish to golf at other courses such as Hilton Head, this is only a short 60 minute drive away and our Treasurer, Andrew Boguszewski (an avid golfer) would be happy to assist you with your plans. Also, (for non-golfers), we have arranged to provide you with the opportunity to play tennis ($10.50 pp) or enjoy a relaxing swim at the heated or indoor pools at The Landings ($5.75 pp). But also please remember, there is much to be seen and enjoyed in the beautiful Historic Savannah District. Come enjoy our city and help us commemorate General Pulaski's contribution to our country.
There are limited spaces available for the luncheon, golf, tennis and swimming, so we ask that you call no later than January 31, 2015 to make reservations. Also, please note that Savannah is host to the 2nd largest St. Partick's Day parade in the country. In 2015, St. Patrick's Day, March 17 is on a Tuesday but Savannah starts booking up early so please make your hotel reservations well in advance..
